It is crucial that we do everything in our power to remain safe and healthy as we face our current health crisis. The situation changes on a daily basis from the international to local level, so while it is important to keep a variety of news outlets on your radar, it is even more important to remember these key pieces of advice in order to keep oneself, and one’s loved ones, safe and healthy.

Wash your hands
When you wash your hands, remember to clean the backs of your hands, your knuckles, and in between your fingers as well as your palms for a minimum of 20 seconds. When you go to a store or come in contact with someone you don’t live with, this is especially important. If you can’t get to soap and water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers to remove harmful germs.
Social distance
If you can’t work from home, or on the rare occasion that you must be in contact with someone else, keep at least six feet between you. If you or the person coughs or sneezes, you should be far enough away to not be sprayed with droplets that could contain the virus.

Avoid touching your face
Surfaces can harbor the virus for several days at a time. When you’re out in the world, avoid touching your nose, mouth, and eyes. It is possible you could transfer the virus into your system through these mediums, so be careful.
Practice proper respiratory hygiene
Keeping other people healthy is just as important as protecting yourself. When you cough or sneeze, practice proper respiratory hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, and if you don’t have one, use your inner elbow so you don’t spray droplets.

If you have cough, fever, and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention
If you feel unwell, stay at home to take care of yourself. Do not go to the store, and only go to the doctor’s if your symptoms become unmanageable. If you have a cough, fever, and difficulty breathing at the same time, seek medical attention. Call ahead so the office knows you’re coming and can take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.
By working together, but far apart, we will get through this. Stay healthy, stay safe, stay hydrated, and stay as positive as you can.
